Libby Gallagher is a contemporary textile artist based in Kendal in the Lake District. Guided by the local landscape and a deep sensitivity to touch, her practice explores regenerative, plant-based materials through weaving, plant paper and the use of raw plant fibres. Her understated, tactile works are rooted in slow, material-led processes that honour sustainability, material honesty and the quiet rhythms of craft.

Working primarily with cellulose-rich plant fibres, Libby is captivated by the meditative nature of processing raw materials by hand. She is drawn to their delicate yet resilient qualities — fibres that hold both fragility and strength — and allows these inherent characteristics to shape each piece. Through attentive handling and an intuitive response to texture, tone and structure, her work emerges as a dialogue between landscape, material and maker.

Libby creates bespoke, handcrafted textile-led artworks and interior pieces for grounded, natural spaces. Rooted in the Lake District landscape, her practice seeks not only to reflect the environment that inspires it, but to contribute to a more regenerative and conscious world through thoughtful making and sustainable craft.
